Information about Goldmyer

Goldmyer is a remote, very beautiful hot springs emerging from inside an old mine shaft. The water temperature at its source is about 120 degrees. The water inside the "cave" is around 110 degrees. The water cascades into several nearby rock pools, with progressively lower temperatures. A cool water pool is located close by for cool downs. Goldmyer is located at approximately 1800 feet elevation. The springs are surrounded by ancient forest containing trees over 800 years old.

Regular clearance cars can usually drive the 10 un-paved road miles to the trailhead from late spring thru fall. There was major damage to the road and a bridge in early 2009 part of which has not yet been repaired. As a result the road is now gated about ten miles from Goldmyer.  Hopefully the road will be repaired in the summer of 2010 and the gate will be moved to the usual position about 4 and a half miles from Goldmyer. Mountain bikes offer a good alternative when the road is snow free as it is now. There are also several trails of varying lengths.   Mountain bikes and hikers can continue on the trail/road to the Goldmyer Property. Once the road is repaired, there is a parking area at the Dingford Creek trail head, which may require a Forest Service trailhead use pass. Look at the Forest Service website to see the latest status. There is now a bridge at the former site of the river ford, so it is much easier to get across the river. There is no longer a need to ford the river or worry greatly about the river depth at the Goldmyer property.  The closest weather forecast is the National Weather Service forecast for the West Slopes Central Cascades and Passes. Goldmyer is located off the Middle Fork Road out of North Bend. Contact the office  (206) 789-5631 for more detailed directions, latest water and road conditions and reservations.

In order to preserve the wilderness experience and fragile ecology of the area, use of the area is limited to 20 persons per day on the property. This is a total of 20 people per day, not 20 people at any one time. No group of over 12 people is permitted, as a large group at the springs at one time would be too crowded. Use of glass, soap, tobacco, alcohol, firearms and unruly behavior is prohibited or strictly limited on the property. The entry fee is $15 per day.
